Years have passed since a northeast Kansas man was reported missing, and it’s believed Cole Daniel Firestine is a victim of foul play.
Cole, who was 24 years old at the time, was last seen on March 12, 2019, in Leavenworth. He was reported missing by his sister by March 20 that year. He is legally blind and wears wire-framed glasses, though they were not on him at the time of his disappearance, records show. He had no ID on him either, advocates with Kansas Missing and Unsolved share. Cole was last known to be wearing a South Pole-brand navy blue jacket with red and white stripes on the sides and arms and jeans. He previously lived in Atchison and had only been in Leavenworth in the two weeks before he vanished.
CRACKING THE COLD CASE
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, it’s rumored that Cole was killed and then dismembered.
His case is being featured on the State of Kansas’ cold case cards — playing cards that circulate in jails and the prison system in hopes of generating new leads. The cards were released in spring 2022 and show 52 victims’ pictures, description of each case and a tip line number. Other states have seen success with similar programs.
